Excellent Headhunters resemble to Top Advocates more, than you might have expected, so let's work together !
After a season marathon of SUITS (season 1-6) I got the idea, that it would be important to open the mind of the LinkedIn audience a bit into the direction, that Headhunters are useful not only for filling your position and use the synergies of their lobby network.
We all-rounder headhunter, this is a headhunter who works on his projects from acquisition of the job, via direct search and gathering of information and client management trough candidate interviews and final placement, resemble more to a Partner of a Law Firm, than you might expect.
You don't find this species in large mass-recruiting companies, but in small international boutique executive search environments. In mass-recruiting companies, every employee has his task in a clear limited field of operation, e.g. there is a person who makes just the research(searching all day long), then there are just liquidators, who take care of the candidate interviews and then there are the sales consultants / partners, responsible for client relations and new headhunting positions.
But in the end the main work is just to catch the headhunting job and to find the right candidate. As a real Headhunter you have both, the search gene and the client relations gene. The construct of a headhunting company is similar to a law office, because the attorneys do the main research work, as recruiters in headhunting, who are finding the right candidate.
So what do good headhunters have in common with excellent advocates ?
This list could be longer, but I think you got, what I mean.
So we are closer to each other as we might have thought. Think of this synergies, if you think of hiring new researchers for your headhunting company or looking for new researchers for your law firm, because real headhunters are real detectives, who can find everyone, everywhere and everything, anytime and we all know, that this skill is not only useful in recruiting... To have such a kind of an in-house detective on board, is basically for every company, their core value is information to make the deal.
Headhunters are Smart Business Developers, who understand Human Beings. In times of Human 2 Human Business, this skill gets more and more important, don't you think ?
Happy Tuesday and this might be a good inspiration for your next resource planning meeting for 2018.
It's all about sales and marketing, but where has our hard-facts review culture gone ?
This is a question, I ask myself since some month, because I have the subjective feeling(post-truth!:-p), that since some years we celebrate more the new things, ideas and visions and forgot to focus on old-school reviews.
Sometimes are reviews a proof for great business strategies and you can learn from it for the future. Sometimes it's better not to look back or to the facts and figures, because it will bring a bigger damage to daylight you better hide.
The older I get, the more I like numbers and facts. Real numbers, provable numbers, because this is the only way, to learn something in a honest, realistic way, especially in these times of post-truth and subjective feelings you meet in social media.
On the other hand, I think, that this kind of review culture is going to decline, because it's not sexy to be beaten by hard facts in the end. Facts are a kind of control authority, like daddy and mommy, when we were young, who told us, if something was wrong or right. So facts will punish or reward you.
In these fast social media times, with a lot of information raining down to us per second, we are more used to look forward, than stop and have a look back and learn from our mistakes or control fake numbers.
A failure culture has become sexy in a way, that I am not sure about, if it goes in the right direction, because failures has to be made, but not to be celebrate. It's not cool to make a mistake, but you can learn from it, if you aware of it.
Marketing without hard facts is like a cheap lie or gambling for the future, hoping it will work. Producing facts and review them is a lot of work and time-consuming and who wants to spend time for something, you get in the end punished for ? ;-) So better do not look to the details and the fine print, it's not good for your eyes.
I a m not talking about finance industry, but about all other industries, where you sometimes fake the balance sheet for better sales and marketing noise, because the crowd would not control the numbers, they are just believers(from Justin Bieber) and you all know, where 'just believing' has let to in history...
Maybe I am just to focused to my experiences from our emotional Marketing-HR-Headhunting-Consulting-Industry, but maybe there are also more examples from you outside about this 'decline of the facts and review culture' ?!
Would be nice to get some short examples here and don't forget, I like hard-facts! :-)
Happy Tuesday from Vienna,

Good evening from Vienna in Austria, after some month of observation, I like to try to talk about my view about Donald Trump.
Yes, Donald is a Elephant in the porcelain shop, but I like that. :-) He speaks frankly like an entrepreneur, an old school entrepreneur generation like my grandfather or my parents from similar age. This is a generation of handshake quality, a generation of mistakes and fast turnarounds after that, they act and talk what they act like.
So, how to deal with them in times of social media, information leaks, fast decisions, hysteric analyzes and lobbyism ?
Would Donald Trump be president of the United States in 1996, there would be no problem, of understanding his decisions, I think, because during this time, he was in his main powerful years. On the other side, he is also today, but with a leak of a lobby, because the lobby and politics have changed.
Sometimes you just want to move something, but you don't have the lobby or you can't act as you wish, because of lobby and circumstances.
What I like on Donald Trump is, that he acts like an entrepreneur and the politics are not used to it, in Europe too. Today, if you make failures as an entrepreneur, you are beaten by the market and local tax authorities soon, and learn your lesson. If you make the wrong decisions as a politician and burn e.g. 200.000.000 $ tax money on a governmental real estate project, it's no problem, but we can fix it in a way, that it will not harm you anytime.
Another point is, that I don't like the new establishment, which came up 20 years ago, growing up from heritage culture, criticizing politics and decisions from a warm, financial nest point of view, living in their own unrealistic bubble of happy-life. In Germany we do have some bio-green-party people, which earn e.g. 7.000 € netto per month as member of parliament, writing their irrealistic blogs on their macbooks and loving organic food.
From their perspective governments do less for the world, but what is their purpose to civitas(people) except being an heir in a comfort zone?
The decline of the middle class, which has begun 15 years before e.g. also in Buenos Aires, as well as in Teheran, Munich or France just in an invisible, private way, is now more and more obvious, and my thesis is, that is happened also in the US as well.
So people want leader with old school handshake quality, a leader, who can handle also Vladimir Putin and acts like him in a way of moving something, instead of talking and not leaving the own comfort zone.
In the end I have to say, that the way of life is in the middle, but I like that, that a conqueror like Donald Trump made it until now to a position like that. It shows that something is wrong in the establishment and that there is a silent mass outside, who feel, that we have to do something and start doing and moving ourselves, instead of talking and feeding lobbyism and keeping the working class under control.
I also know, that this isn't a topic for a blog article, because its to complex to discuss it in some sentences, but I think it would be a topic for a conference with worldwide public TV audience and speakers for one month. We have to think more big and more global, than just in our small egoistic own country view.
This change, we see in the US is globally and also in Europe. It's near your door and not in front of your TV with crisps and beer.
Maybe when I am 85 we will have a global world government with equal people from each world country. I would really like that, because I have so many nice friends around the globe from different race and color, who have something to say, and than to move.
By the way I am a big fan of Mr. Robot, Billions, Fargo and House of Cards, so think about my profile, before you judge like a 2017 social media citizen. ;-)
Good night from Vienna !
